TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2016-17 Division II regional and national award winners on Monday, May 8, 2017, at the 2017 Division II NCAA Tennis Championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida. As these awards were announced, the University of the Sciences tennis team collected three regional honors, including women's rookie of the year and player to watch, while the men's team was presented with the senior of the year award.
The ITA Women's Rookie of the Year award was presented to Karla Miletic. Miletic collected major individual awards and the first time ever in USciences women's tennis history, earning CACC Player and Rookie of the Year accolades. She concluded her inaugural season with the Devils with a 15-1 record on the first singles court during the championship season on her way to setting the single-season wins record. In the process of posting an outstanding singles record, Miletic was not alone on her record chase, as she posted an 8-5 doubles record with an array of partners such as Elkanah Linder and Abbygail Gamarnik and fellow first-year player Julia James.
Adding to his All-CACC first team award, Jake Sosonkin of the men's tennis team earned ITA Senior of the Year. Sosonkin racked up 20 total wins on the season with eight of them coming on the singles court. As he would go on his way to become the all-time men's tennis career singles record holder.
The final award went to Elkanah Linder of the women's tennis team, earning the ITA East Region Player to Watch award. Linder was a force for the Devils on the second singles court, while also taking doubles wins on the first and second court.
