Philadelphia, Pa. - The University of the Sciences athletic department has named Amy Kimchuk its newest Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) starting during the 2017-18 academic year. The Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) is involved in the assurance of the academic integrity of the athletics program and in the maintenance of the welfare of the student athlete. The FAR also serves the interest of the student athlete's academic and personal welfare with the support of the Athletic Department.
Professor Kimchuk has been a Senior Lecturer of Mathematics at the University of the Sciences for 19 of 23-year career. While having taught many courses, her main teaching responsibilities have been Precalculus and Calculus. After many years on campus, Professor Kimchuk said, "I look forward to working with the student-athletes and taking on a new role as part of the university." Amy served as an academic advisor for first and second-year students and has been actively involved in STEM outreach. She also works closely with the freshmen in her courses to ease their transition from High School to College. Amy has received the William F. Homiller Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching, the Outstanding Academic Advisor of the Year Award, and the Patricia Leahy Innovation in Teaching "OWL" Award. She holds degrees from Gwynedd Mercy College and Villanova University.
