Jesse Phillips, Ed.D, also Director of Campus Recreation at University of the Sciences since 2014, was named the Student Leadership Development Advisor in October 2017.
The Student Leadership Development Advisor is a special role that Dr. Phillips is very excited to serve as. In this role, he is tasked to engage student-athletes and coaches to increase their knowledge and build their skills for effective leadership, critical self-assessment and professional development through one-on-one coaching and team trainings.
“It is my goal to meet the leadership needs of all the players and coaches in the learning environment created by the athletic department,” said Dr. Phillips.
As Director of Campus Recreation, Dr. Phillips oversees the recreational and athletic programming of USciences students in the 78,000 sq ft. Athletic Recreation Center. In addition, he is a huge proponent of leadership development and employs a staff of over 40 students and student managers each year to manage the facility.
Dr. Phillips earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport and Recreation Management at Temple University in 2004 and then went on to earn his MBA in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business Administration from University of the Sciences in 2011.
Dr. Phillips recently earned his Doctorate of Education concentrated in Organizational Leadership and Innovation from Wilmington University in 2017.
Dr. Phillips was born in Queens, N.Y. and now resides in Philadelphia with his wife, Janee, and children, Jesse Jr. and Jania.
