NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year Flo Da-Silva began his 2017-18 season with similar recognition on Monday as he was named the first CACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Da-Silva did a little bit of everything for the University of the Sciences men's basketball team over the weekend, helping the Devils to season-opening wins over LIU Post and NYIT. The senior averaged 8.0 rebounds, 7.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 steals in 38.5 minutes per game.
Da-Silva charged a defense that forced 18 turnovers in the season-opener against LIU Post on Friday night as he fell one steal shy of his career-high with six, to go along with team-highs of nine rebounds and four assists. The next night, he had game-highs in assists and steals once again with seven and three, respectively, while adding nine points and seven rebounds.
Da-Silva and USciences close out their season-opening three-game road-trip at Kutztown on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
