Men’s Basketball Receives NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for Third Time in Four Years

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the third time in four years the University of the Sciences men's basketball team was honored with the Team Academic Excellence Award by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), it was announced on Wednesday. 

The Award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by teams with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2017-18 season.

The USciences men's basketball team posted respective GPAs of 3.08 and 3.12 in the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters.  

Michael Fox, Will Gregorits, Brandon Hathaway and Jordan White all earned Dean's List Honors in both semesters, with Danny Kelly, Tanner Kerr and JJ Melchior receiving the Honor in the Spring. 

Notably, Fox achieved a 4.0 GPA in both semesters, and Gregorits had a 4.0 GPA in the Spring. 

University of the Sciences men's basketball (16-13) qualified for the CACC Tournament for the sixth consecutive year in 2017-18, where it would knock off top-seed, regular season champion and eventual NCAA East Region Finalist Bloomfield in the Quarterfinals.
