Men’s Basketball Voted Fourth in CACC Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of the Sciences men's basketball team has been tabbed to finish fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South, as the league released the 2018-19 CACC Preseason Coaches Poll on Wednesday.

USciences has finished in the top four of the seven-team CACC South, with a winning conference record, for six straight seasons, therefore earning a bid to six consecutive CACC Tournaments.

Last year, the Devils finished tied for third at 11-8 (16-13 overall), before going on to defeat CACC North champion Bloomfield in the CACC Quarterfinals.

University of the Sciences returns 11-of-13 letterwinners from that team, including starters Paddy Casey, Brendan Crawford and Beni Toure

Defending CACC Tournament champion Jefferson narrowly edged out defending CACC South champion Goldey-Beacom by three points for the top spot in South Division Poll, despite the Lightning receiving 10 of a possible 14 first-place votes. The Rams received the other four.

Wilmington, the team USciences tied for third with last year, came in at third in the poll, while Holy Family rounded out the top-five, and Holy Family and Chestnut Hill were sixth and seventh.

In the North, defending East Region finalist Bloomfield topped Dominican by just two points, receiving 8-of-14 top-votes, with the Chargers receiving the other six.

Caldwell, Post, Felician, Concordia and Nyack occupied spots three through seven.
