Markusic Wins Twice at 2018 NCAA Second Round Participant NYIT on Friday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Borna Markusic won both of his matches on Friday, including a three-setter at No. 1 singles and a 6-4 decision at second flight doubles with Borna Novak, as the University of the Sciences men's tennis team traveled to face 2018 NCAA Tournament Round of 16 participant NYIT.

All three sets at No.1 singles finished 6-1, with Markusic taking the first and third. The freshman improved to a team-best 4-2 overall, including 2-1 in dual play.  

Markusic and Novak's victory was their team-best third together. 

The two other doubles matches were competitive, with University of Sciences winning at least four games in both. Rakesh Chamala and Sahas Chandragiri took five games in their third flight match, with Nathan Nguyen and Jack Kosiowrowski winning four at the first flight. 

Aside from Markusic, Nguyen won a team-high eight games at No. 4 singles, with Kosiorowski taking seven games at the second flight. 

University of the Sciences closes out its fall dual season at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4 when it hosts Kutztown in its first-ever home match at the Hamlin Center.
