Men’s Tennis Loses to Jefferson 4-3 in Season Finale Despite Taking Doubles Point; All Three Seniors Win in Doubles Play in Final Career Matches

PHILADELPHIA – The doubles point could not lift the University of the Sciences men's tennis team to a victory in an eventual 4-3 loss at the hands of Jefferson in the Devils' season-finale on Wednesday.

Playing their final career collegiate matches, seniors Borna Novak, Nathan Nguyen and Evan Halperin all won in doubles play.

Novak and freshman Borna Markusic prevailed in a tiebreaker at the first flight for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win together this year.

Nguyen teamed with freshman Jack Kosiorowski for a 6-4 result at No. 2 doubles, which moved them into a tie for second on the team with Sahas Chandragiri with eight doubles victories.

Chandragiri won 6-2 at the third flight with Halperin for the pair's first CACC triumph this season.

He then won in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, at No. 5 singles for one of USciences' two singles points.

Nguyen earned the other, sweeping his fourth flight opponent to finish the season with seven victories, tied with Chandragiri for second-most on the team.

The match was ultimately determined at No. 2 singles, where Kosiorowski fell 4-6 in the third set.
