Many Firsts for Track and Field at Stockton’s Osprey Invitational

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The University of the Sciences track and field program continue to see school records fall, collegiate-bests set, and Devils competing in events for the first time in school history at Stockton's Invitational over the weekend. 

Koy Connors became the first Devil to ever compete in the decathlon, placing third out of 10 with a collegiate-best 5,077 points. He set collegiate-bests in four events (shot put, high jump, 400m and discus) and placed in the top-half of the field in eight events, including winning the discus (29.59m) and pole vault (3.55m). 

William Hallinan placed third out of 46 in the 1500m, finishing in 4:05.31 to break his own school record, while Ryan Ward also placed in the top-half of the field, crossing in 20th.

USciences' next-highest finish on the day came from Christina Holmes, who placed fourth out of 38 in the 100m after crossing in 12.84. 

Johnathan Epstein and Gabrielle Moss both posted fifth-place finishes in the 5000m, in respective fields of 17 and 16. 

Alton McKenley and Macniel Mandeh both posted top-10 finishes in the field of 39 in the 400m, with McKenley setting a new school record of 50.90 and Mandeh finishing in collegiate-best 51.77. 

Both relay teams set school records, with the 4x400m team of Eric Papazian, McKenley, Ward and Mandeh finishing in a combined 3:30.98 to place sixth out of 15, and the 4x800m team consisting of Hallinan, Ward, Mandeh and Epstein combining to finish in 8:29.83 to place second out of six. 

McKayla Kelly extended her own school record in the shot put, marking at 11.77m to place seventh out of 28, and she also posted the longest javelin throw by a Devil this season with a mark of 30.65m, good for fifth out of 14. 

Chloe Georges placed eighth out of 23 in the discus with her furthest mark traveling 31.97m. She also set a new collegiate-bests in both the hammer throw (30.72m) and the javelin (20.69m)

Notably, Dylan Zuch became the first Devil to ever run in the 3000m steeplechase.

University of the Sciences' final meet as an entire squad comes next weekend, April 19-20, at Moravian's Greyhound Invitational.
