NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Just two days after a career performance on Senior Day, senior Laura Trisch has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
She is the first University of the Sciences player to receive the honor this season.
Trisch had multiple blocks and steals in two USciences (23-2, 15- CACC) victories last week as the Devils extended their win streak to 16, trying a program record.
She totaled six blocks and six steals between the two games, while also averaging 10.5 rebounds, 6.5 points and 3.0 assists against just one turnover in 69 minutes.
One of Trisch's two steals at Jefferson, a game between the two top teams in the CACC South, came with just 1:03 remaining and USciences leading by one. In addition to her two steals, she had game-highs of 11 rebounds and three blocks, the latter of which tied a season-best.
The senior may have saved the best performance of her career for Saturday's Senior Day win over Post as she recorded her third career double-double with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while also leading all players with a career-best four steals and three blocks. She also added three assists.
With the performance, Trisch made her way up the program's record book in three categories. She is now fourth all-time with 119 career blocks, and 10th all-time with 638 career rebounds and 121 career 3-pointers.
University of the Sciences will go for a program-record 17th win in a row at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 13, in its home-finale against Goldey-Beacom.
