Volleyball Records Best Hitting Percentage in Nearly Three Years in Sweep of Bowie State

PHILADELPHIA – The University of the Sciences volleyball team hit a season-best .280 and recorded a season-high 13 service aces en route to a sweep of Bowie State (25-10, 25-11, 25-15) on Wednesday evening at Bobby Morgan Arena. 

The .280 hitting percentage was USciences' highest since it hit .389 in a sweep at Nyack on Nov. 5, 2015. 

Four Devils swung at least .263 with five kills, led by Sarah Miller recording eight on a season-best .333 hitting. The junior also added a season-high four service aces. 

Bianca Galis added seven kills on .312 hitting, and Elizabeth Checca contributed six on .263 hitting. 

Brooke Witmer was the most efficient, tallying five kills on .556 hitting, to go along with a career-best five service aces and match-high two blocks. One of those blocks was a block assist, which moved her into sixth in program history with 135 for her career. 

Caelin Jaskot and Danielle Taylor led all players with 26 assists and 12 digs, respectively. 

University of the Sciences returns to CACC play on Saturday, Oct. 13, continuing its six-match homestand with a 1 p.m. start versus Chestnut Hill.
