Baseball Falls to Regionally-Ranked Ashland, 5-0

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – After surrendering two runs in each of the opening two innings, the University of the Sciences baseball team held regionally-ranked Ashland to just one run in the final seven frames of a 5-0 loss to the Eagles on Wednesday afternoon. 

Starter Hiro Mizutani went the first seven innings, striking out a career-high nine, before Austin Blumetti threw the final two frames, giving up one earned on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks. 

USciences had a runner reach base in six of its nine at-bats, advancing four into scoring position, but could never push a run across.  

Five Devils had a base-hit, highlighted by Justin Skinner's double. 

University of the Sciences plays its penultimate game in Florida tomorrow, taking on Minnesota-Crookston at 3:30 p.m.
