LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – All five Devils to golf shot a new season-best, highlighted by Mitchel Storb's collegiate-best 77 to place second in the field of 15, lifting the University of the Sciences men's golf team to a second place finish in a tri-match with Jefferson and Neumann at The ACE Club on Monday afternoon.
Storb finished three strokes ahead of the third place finisher. He was also three strokes behind the winner.
The junior's 77 beat his previous collegiate-best of 78, which he set last October in the second round of the Devils Classic. It was one shot short of a top-five round in the program since the fall of 2009.
Austin Staiano was one of two golfers to finish three strokes behind Storb in a tie for third, as he fired a season-best 80.
Andy Ring also a set a new season-best with an 84 to place in the top-half of the field in a tie for sixth.
Playing his second round of the season in two days, Drew Grover was eight strokes better than yesterday with a 94.
Austin Bythrow rounded out USciences' lowest team total of the season with Devils' second collegiate-best round, shooting a 98 to beat his previous one by three.
University of the Sciences recorded a team total of 335, 11 strokes behind first place Jefferson and four strokes ahead of Neumann.
USciences now turns its attention to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship, which takes place Sunday, Sept. 30 and Monday, Oct. 1 at Deerwood Country Club.
