The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) partners with its 14 schools to highlight the league's student-athletes through a feature series twice a year.
The feature series for Spring 2019 was "Academics Outside the Classroom," which had student-athletes answer the following questions:
- What did you study outside of the classroom that has helped progress you to your degree?
- What did you learn during your time and how did it impact your academic career?
Here is what men's basketball sophomore Franklin Okpala had to say:
"I was fortunate to get an internship after my freshman year with Separation Method Technologies Inc. (SMT), a surface chemistry research and manufacturing corporation company that focuses on manufacturing High-performance Liquid Chromatography Columns (HPLC), absorbent packing materials, and various chemistry separation solutions. I currently work as a sales representative and a business developer, but I have found myself leading and managing various projects for the company. I have learned a lot about pharmaceutical sales, marketing, and creating different business strategies. As a Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Business major, this opportunity helps me apply what I learn in the classroom directly into real-world business."
