Men’s Basketball Ties for Fourth in CACC Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of the Sciences men's basketball team was voted to tie for fourth in the Southern Division, as the 2019-20 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday.

The top four teams from the each of the two CACC Divisions qualify for the CACC Tournament, something USciences has accomplished in six of the previous seven seasons.

The Devils tied for fourth with Holy Family with 48 points, 22 behind third-place Wilmington.

First-place Jefferson received 12 of a possible 14 first-place votes en route to 90 points, with second-place Goldey-Beacom earning the other two to total 73.

Georgian Court and Chestnut Hill rounded out the poll, with the sixth-place Lions finishing 15 points behind USciences.

In the CACC North, first-place Dominican garnered 11 top-votes, with second place Bloomfield receiving two and third-place Caldwell one.

Felician, Post, Concordia and Nyack occupied spots four through seven.

USciences men's basketball returns three starters from 2018-19 in Paddy Casey, Brandon Starr and Sean Simon, with top bench-scorer Jordan White also back.

Other reserves coming back include Franklin Okpala, Devan Rodman, Tom Gregorits and Cameron Hoffman, with redshirts JJ Melchior and Jordan Davison also returning

The Devils signed four newcomers, with walk-on Darious Brown also earning a spot on the final roster.

University of the Sciences opens up its 2019-20 season on Saturday, Nov. 9 when it hosts St. Thomas Aquinas at 7 p.m.
