Men’s Tennis Voted Fifth in CACC Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of the Sciences men's tennis program was voted fifth in the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Coaches Poll, announced on Friday.

Defending regular season and CACC Tournament champion Concordia was the unanimous favorite in the rankings, garnering all five first-place votes.

Chestnut Hill was comfortably in second place, while Jefferson edged out Post by one point for the third place slot.

University of the Sciences was narrowly defeated by Jefferson, 4-3, in the fall season.

In a change to the postseason format, only three teams will make this season's CACC Tournament.

The No. 2 and No. 3 seeds from the regular season standings will meet in the First Round on Tuesday, April 23, with the winner advancing to take on the No. 1 seed in the Final on Saturday, April 27 at Concordia.

University of the Sciences has qualified for 8-of-10 CACC Tournaments in its program history.

After going 2-2 in the fall season with victories over Millersville and Kutztown, USciences begins play in the spring on Saturday, Feb. 16 at The College of New Jersey.

The Devils then take more than a month off before opening their CACC campaign against Chestnut Hill on Wednesday, March 20.

Freshman Borna Markusic led USciences with four singles victories in the fall, which included advancing to the Round of 16 at the ITA East Regionals.

Fellow freshman Jack Kosiorowski and junior Sahas Chandragiri were right behind Markusic with three singles wins, all of which came in dual play.

Senior Borna Novak won a team-high four matches in doubles play, three of which came when partnered with Markusic.
