PHILADELPHIA – University of the Sciences Head Softball Coach Shannon Padula has announced the hiring of Emilee Kirk as the program's new assistant coach.
"Emilee was highly recommended from her college coach, and she has been fantastic since she has gotten here," said Padula. "Her energy, positivity and knowledge is going to be an asset to our program. In just a short time she has already impacted our program and made us better."
Kirk joins USciences after a four-year playing career at Mount St. Mary's, where she is tied for second in program history for home runs in a sophomore season (7) and doubles in a senior season (11). Notably, her seven home runs in 2017 ranked fifth in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
In 2019, her senior season, she helped the Mountaineers to their first NEC Tournament appearance since 2006.
Kirk ended her career with 79 hits, 41 RBI and 39 runs in 146 games played.
Academically she was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete her senior year, and she also interned in both the athletic operations department and athletic communications department.
Kirk was a First Team All-Conference honoree both her junior and senior seasons at Garnet Valley High School, as well as First Team All-Area and Honorable Mention All-State as a senior. She was recognized as an Under Armour Preseason All-American prior to her senior season.
She also played basketball, serving as captain for both teams.
Kirk received her Bachelor of Sport Management from Mount St. Mary's, with a minor in business. She was a Dean's List Honoree and was also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
