Three-time Defending CACC South Champion Women’s Basketball Atop CACC Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division champion University of the Sciences was atop the 2019-20 CACC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.

The Devils garnered nine of the possible 14 first-place votes to top second-place Jefferson, who received four top-votes, by 10 points with 87.

USciences has won the CACC South four times in the last five seasons, part of qualifying for the CACC Tournament nine years in a row.

The Devils have gone on to win two of the previous three CACC Tournaments.

Georgian Court came in third place ahead of fourth-place Goldey-Beacom, who earned the last first-place vote.

Holy Family, Chestnut Hill and Wilmington rounded out the poll.

In the CACC North, it was Dominican claiming the top spot with 10 top-votes.

Second-place Caldwell and third-place Post split the four others.

Felician, Bloomfield, Concordia and Nyack occupied positions four through seven.

USciences women's basketball brings back three starters from 2018-19 in Taylor Hamm and All-CACC selections Irisa Ye and Jordan Vitelli.

The Devils' top-two bench-scorers Jess Huber and Kendall Keyes also return, as do Brigit Coleman, Mikaela Giuliani, Shannon May and Juliana Gura.

University of the Sciences also signed four freshmen in Riley Vingsen, Isla Brennan, Gisella Romeo, Kerry Patterson and Harlem Jennings.

The Devils open their 2019-20 season when they host nationally-ranked Bentley on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
