NEW HAVEN, Conn. – University of the Sciences junior Irisa Ye has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in the Devils' road-trip in New York over the weekend.
It is her second career CACC Player of the Week award (12/31/18), and her second weekly honor from the league this season after being named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11. The junior was also named the CACC Rookie of the Week once during her freshman season.
Ye led both games in scoring en route to averaging 23.5 points on 54.5 percent shooting (18-of-33) in 30.0 minutes per game, as USciences opened the New Year by defeating No. 21 St. Thomas Aquinas and Concordia. She also made 9-of-11 free throw attempts and added averages of 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists per contest.
The North Wales, Pa. native sealed the victory over the nationally-ranked Spartans on Friday with two free throws to make it a four-point game with seven seconds remaining, putting a stamp on a game-high 21-point performance, which also included five rebounds.
Ye then finished with a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting in just 26 minutes at Concordia on Saturday, making 4-of-5 free throws and 2-of-3 3-pointers, while adding a game and career-high four steals, as well as a team-high three assists and three boards.
In the midst of a season-long five-game win streak, Ye and her teammates return home for the first time in two and a half weeks to host cross-city rival Jefferson this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
