Women’s Tennis Ties Program Record, Clinching Third Consecutive CACC Tournament Berth with 5-2 Win at Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA – The University of the Sciences women's tennis team tied a program record on Wednesday, clinching a third consecutive berth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament with a 5-2 triumph over Chestnut Hill at the CHC Tennis Courts.

USciences has not made three straight appearances in the CACC Tournament since the first three years of the conference from 2005-06 to 2007-08.

Dating back to 2014-15, the Devils have qualified for the four of the past five CACC Tournaments after not qualifying for the previous six.

University of the Sciences swept doubles play to begin the afternoon, with the pairs of Abbygail Gamarnik and Karla Miletic, Danielle Paran and Stephanie Mazurek, Han Le and Elkanah Linder all winning.

Miletic and Gamarnik improved to a team-best 3-1 in CACC play together, while Paran and Mazurek are now 3-2 together overall this season. For Le and Linder, it was the first time they played together this season.

The result moved Paran into a tie for ninth in program history with 19 career doubles wins.

USciences then won the first three singles matches to finish to officially clinch the postseason berth, dropping a total of just three games in those respective matches.

Julia James swept her fifth flight opponent to move into sixth in program history with her 25th career victory, while also keeping her perfect CACC record in tact at 4-0.

Linder won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles to improve to .500 both overall (6-6) and in the CACC (3-3), while Mazurek won her sixth straight match after dropping just one game at the fourth flight.

Miletic closed out the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 1 singles to move above .500 in the CACC to 3-2.

University of the Sciences closes out its fall road schedule on Saturday, Oct. 13 with a 12 p.m. match at Caldwell.
