Women’s Tennis Sweeps Caldwell to Tie Program Record for CACC Wins; Will Host Post in CACC First Round Tomorrow at 5:30 P.M.

PHILADELPHIA – The University of the Sciences women's tennis team tied last year's program record for Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victories in a season, sweeping Caldwell on the eve of the 2018 CACC Tournament on Monday afternoon at the Hamlin/Hecht Centers.

USciences finishes CACC play at 5-3 for the second year in a row, surpassing the previous program record for an eight-game league schedule of 4-4 set in 2009-10. The Devils' fourth place finish in the league standings also matches last season's program record for a nine-team CACC.

As the four seed in the CACC Tournament, USciences will host fifth-seeded Post in the First Round tomorrow, Oct. 15, at 5:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the CACC Semifinals to take on top seed Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Post.

University of the Sciences did not drop a game in two-of-three doubles matches, and five-of-six singles matches, on Monday.

The Devils' doubles pairings included Abbygail Gamarnik and Danielle Paran, Stephanie Mazurek and Julia James, and Han Le and Gabrielle Soriano, with those also representing USciences in singles play.

It was the first time Gamarnik and Paran paired this season, with Gamarnik improving to a team-best 13-5 in doubles play this year, while Le and Soriano end the CACC season 2-0 together.

Notably, James moved into a tie for seventh in program history with 21 career doubles victories, while Paran is now ninth with 20.

In singles play, Mazurek improved to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the CACC this year.

Also putting a stamp on a successful CACC season were James, Le, and Soriano, who end league play with respective records of 5-2, 2-0 and 2-1.

Notably, Gamarnik improved to a perfect 2-0 at No. 1 singles this year.
