MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Karla Miletic won at the first flight, and four of the six singles matches went to a third set, but the USciences women's tennis team's season came to an end in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semifinals with a 4-1 loss to second-seeded Goldey-Beacom at Edgewood Bath & Tennis on Friday afternoon.
After the Lightning (9-1) won the doubles point, they also took the first point in singles play at the second flight.
Miletic then won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to cut the deficit to 2-1, and all four of the remaining matches went to a third set.
Diana Sosonkin, Myra Anwar and Danielle Paran all won the first set of their respective fourth, fifth and sixth flight matches, while Stephanie Mazurek came back from dropping the first set at No. 3 singles.
Goldey-Beacom would come back to win the final two sets at fourth and sixth flight though to clinch the victory.
Notably, Miletic's win was the 50th of her career. The senior now only trails Mazurek for the team-lead with eight wins on the year.
University of the Sciences will now take a break before its spring season begins on Saturday, Feb. 15 at The College of New Jersey.
