McKenley and Hallinan Win at Delaware Open in Track and Field’s Regular Season Finale

NEWARK, Del. – Alton McKenley and William Hallinan both won at the Delaware Open on Sunday, as the University of the Sciences track and field team got its final preparation for next weekend's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships. 

The Championships will begin at 9:30 a.m. next Sunday at Georgian Court. 

McKenley beat out a field of 10 in the 400m, besting his school record by crossing in 50.44, while Hallinan finished ahead of six others with a time of 1:56.31 in the 800m

Their two times rank eighth and sixth in the CACC this year. 

Sophie Hockran set two collegiate-bests on the day, placing third out of seven in the discus with a school-record mark of 32.15m, while her furthest throw in the hammer travelled 28.65m. 

Also setting a collegiate-best on the day was Paige Jacobs in the 1500m. 

Eric Papazian (200m), Koy Connors (javelin) and McKayla Kelly (shot put) all placed in the top-half of their respective fields. 

Notably, Perry Giambuzzi made his USciences debut in the javelin.
