Witmer Ties Career-High in Kills in Volleyball’s Loss to Caldwell

PHILADELPHIA – Brooke Witmer tied her career-high with 12 kills, as the University of the Sciences volleyball team closed out its three-match homestand with a 3-0 loss to Caldwell on Saturday afternoon.

The senior has now reached 12 kills five times in career, and she was also efficient in the performance with a .524 hitting percentage. 

University of the Sciences nearly pulled off a comeback in the first set after trailing by six multiple times early, including as late as 11-5. 

A run of four straight points, which featured two Witmer kills and two Sarah Miller service aces got USciences as close as 17-16, but Caldwell scored the next three points en route to an eventual 25-20 win. 

The Cougars would then go on to comfortably take sets two and three by the identical score of 25-16. 

Other USciences leaders included Caelin Jaskot with 23 assists, and Rhiannon Comia with 16 digs. 

The Devils return to the road for a 7 p.m. match at Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
